Despite the holiday season in full effect around here, I have still been hiding in corners and staying up late to rework chapters, fix grammar, change chapter titles, and meticulously read and pick through each and every line.
I just finished the third draft of my manuscript based on the feedback of several, super-helpful beta readers.
My beta readers, which so far have been close friends of mine, have showed up for me in ways I could only have dreamed of.
One gave me a full report only four days after I gave it to her. Another finished in 10 days, and gave me more great feedback.
My brother also read the entire thing from cover to cover. His positivity around the way that I write and what I have done has been overwhelmingly wonderful.
Mike’s whole family have also been reading and giving me feedback.
It has felt a lot like standing naked in the middle of the room with all of these people. Fortunately, they have all been really good at taking my vulnerability away and replacing it with confidence and joy.
Next step-this new copy is going out to more beta readers, ones that don’t know me as well. With their feedback, I will work on the final copy that will have to be good enough to send to literary agents.
